In a recent guest post about creating visually appealing apps, the author briefly touched on the psychology of color.
How much thought do you put into the colors you use in your app icons, screenshots and user interface?
If you’re like me you probably don’t really think about using specific colors to influence the emotions of our users. As long as the art looks good that’s all I used worry about.
It turns out this isn’t the best idea. Color has a huge impact on how people perceive our apps. In fact, the colors you choose convey messages to your audience and can even influence purchase behaviour.
So how do you know which colors to choose for your mobile app?

After creating this infographic I’ve actually begun to notice examples of color being used deliberately to form impressions and communicate messages all over the place.
For example, I noticed that finance apps in the App Store really do seem to use green more often than other categories!
Now that you understand the psychology of color when it comes to mobile apps, how will you use it to create better apps?
